I think we're being played."[^2] - Crawford <br> ### Description Operation: Golden Light was greenlit by [[Arkangel Legion]] in November 2048, after an intelligence report revealed the [[Thousand Petals Coalition]] plan to seize the Atacama aquifer in Chile. Composed of soldiers from Arkangel Legion and [[Ascension Company]], the special operations team, Midas Squad, was deployed to ensure Arkangel's lithium site was protected if [[Haven|El Alicanto]] became a battleground. There were concerns within the unit that they were not adequately prepared for an assault. The unit was made up of only two dozen soldiers and believed they'd been deployed inadequate gear, most notably missing Ascension Company's trademark exosuits. "It feels like we've been purposely sent out to die. To what point, I'm unsure." Their captain noted in a report. The unit suffered heavy causalities in the attack. One member of the unit, [[No-Pats|No-Pat]] [[Codex/Specialists/Charlie Crawford|Charlie Crawford]], was saved by [[Brotherhood of Night]] leader [[Bernardo O'Higgins]]. O'Higgins asked Crawford to join their fight; he recognized the celebrity [[Codex/Profiles/Exodus|Exodus]] No-Pat, believing he would be seen as a symbol of good fortune and boost morale. Crawford accepted, just wanting to get out of this desert alive. Besides, he suspected that the promised [[Arkangel]] check wasn't coming.
