We don’t know what they want, but they aren’t going to get it.” - US Mission Briefing “Our lost submarine has been recovered in Alang, India. While our national property is being defiled, our most secret weapon systems are being looted.” - RU Mission Briefing “It’s hard when someone recognizes me in Alang. I never know which reputation has reached them first."[^1] - Rao “I started taking my pay in scrap parts whenever the Exodus has contracts in India. No better place to fix the old girl up.”[^2] - Angel “The deal with No-Pats is Alang’s worst kept secret. Corrupt businessmen were selling ships intended for scrap to No-Pats on the black market.”[^3] - Bechir <br> ### Description In many ways, the ship-breaking yard in Alang, India was the biggest graveyard in the world. Massive skeletons of the largest vessels in the world were brought to its shores to be stripped down for parts, giving everything from old steel to the captain's chair a new purpose. It was dangerous, often destructive work, as years of deterioration exposed the many scrapper crews to lead, obscene heat, and sometimes even nuclear material. The latter had suddenly pulled Alang into international war. In 2042, their recovery of the Russian submarine Aleksandr provided a substantial financial opportunity, as the reactor inside was still viable. A fierce bidding war over the remains began, drawing the attention of both Russia and the United States, who reacted by sending military forces to the region. Combat in Alang risked the entire shipyard, putting the locals on edge while their livelihood was trapped between two warring nations. While the submarine is presently in American hands, their defenses are minimal, meaning the shipyard itself has become fodder for makeshift barricades and perimeters. Whoever wins, Alang as a whole stands to lose. [^1]: This is one of Rao's loading screen quotes. [^2]: This is one of Angel's loading screen quotes.
