But if any other project were ever to come back to haunt us, it would be that one."[^1] - Bergman "It is worth highlighting Boreas' research in neural-linked prosthetics promises revolutionary developments and heralds a paradigm shift in infantry warfare."[^2] - Arkangel "That Boreas facility in Scotland... everything I hear about it haunts me. No-Pats repurposed into the fuel for machines. We're just fodder for them, aren't we?"[^3] - Falck "If it wasn't for me, Nilsson would still be scurrying away in the dark, looking for answers he didn't have the courage to find." - Blackburn "I sometimes wish I could go back to the beginning. Just me and a handful of scientists working in that bunker. The future seemed so bright." - Nilsson <br> ### Description Boreas Research & Development was born out of an investment by one of [[Codex/Organizations/Nordvik|Nordvik's]] founders, Erik Nilsson. After he purchased rights to an abandoned bunker in the [[Redacted|Scottish Hebrides]], the newly created Boreas was put to work as a secret splinter cell investing in synthetic combat enhancements and AI-enhanced assistants. Eventually, the bunker was fully repurposed to develop a training ground for augmented soldiers and first-in-class laboratories. Everything changed when Boreas was put in the hands of [[Henry Blackburn]]. When [[Arkangel]] purchased the research team, Blackburn launched Project: Pallas and began providing Boreas with living humans - captured [[No-Pats]] - for experimentation. The company was now doing with their test subjects what they did with the bunker: gutting the past to build the future. To aid these goals, Boreas keeps a highly trained extraction team in [[Boreas Containment Services]], who are tasked both with finding more subjects for lab work and controlling those who are sent to the bunker in Scotland. Their synthetic soldiers are controlled by the [[Aurora Operating System]], the artificial intelligence whose rapidly accelerating tactical intelligence has been of keen interest to Blackburn - and worried many of the scientists also locked inside with the machine.
