### Description
Originally a small cell phone manufacturer, Daesong was founded in South Korea in 2027. A series of clever investments in second-hand telecommunications equipment eventually led to rapid growth as climate change decimated networks in neighboring countries. The founders reinvested their profits into invigorating South Korean telecomms, eventually leading to the establishment of the Daesong Data Center in Songdo. It set about reinforcing numerous nations against peak disaster when [[Codex/Key Events/The Blackout|the Blackout]] hit.
K-Net was the answer – Daesong’s non-satellite dependent solution to get the world back online. By 2041, Daesong was the world’s largest internet provider, responsible for over 60% of all internet traffic – closely monitored from its data center in Songdo.
Privately, Daesong is responsible for storing and transmitting highly classified information between South Korea and its allies, while also scraping intel from less friendly countries who have been forced to rely on Daesong-branded electronics. This has led to an increase in cyberwarfare attacks between multiple nations, including Russia who rightfully suspect their secret communications have been compromised.
Access to such secrets makes Daesong vulnerable to attack, or infiltration. [[Codex/Organizations/The Dark Market|The Dark Market's]] preferred strategy – why fight the competition when you can control it from the inside. They have their asset in place. Executive Yoon is proving valuable. For now.
