It seems fate had other plans, and I needed to be shown it's where I truly belonged." - Morales "The peace now between the Brotherhood of Night and Guardia del Pueblo is thanks to Morales. The people of El Alicanto may not admit it, but this ceasefire might save their very existence." - Blasco "Bastion was my oldest friend. My brother. Nothing can undo the pain and suffering he brought upon our people. But his desire to change is a start." - O'Higgins <br> ### Description Captain Sebastion "Bastion" Morales wore the badge of "most hated man in [[Haven|El Alicanto]]" with pride. Born and raised in the town, he had always dreamed of being a part of something bigger than the "quaint" desert community. He held disdain for the town's "tourist trap" persona and escaped the first chance he had. It meant saying goodbye to his family and closest friend, [[Bernardo O'Higgins|Bernardo]], but his yearning for the world beyond Atacama was too great. He enlisted in [[Guardia del Pueblo]], eager to join a cause invested in protecting the people of Chile. The unification of the fractured police forces gave the GDP an almost "standing military" persona, which the then 18-year-old Bastion idealized. When [[Arkangel]] came to El Alicanto, Bastion was a natural candidate to lead the GDP's security and protection efforts in the region. Arkangel's partnership with Chile promised to enrich the country, and Bastion, a former local, could help ease the transition. As Bastion suspected, his presence had the opposite effect. The Atacama community was a prideful one, and he was the "traitor" who abandoned them. Bastion argued that El Alicanto needed to cut out the "selfish, isolationist bullshit" and consider the greater needs of Chile if they were to survive. These opinions began to sour after the [[Arkangel Riot of 2045|Arkangel Riot of '45]], the peaceful demonstration that was answered with extreme measures. Witnessing the deaths of numerous community members, including Violeta O'Higgins, Bastion was rattled. The GDP had inadvertently justified the [[Brotherhood of Night|Brotherhood's]] cause. What was worse, Bastion started to believe they might be right. He continued to lead clashes against local Brotherhood resistance for several years, including once nearly dying at Bernardo's hands - a fate he only escaped because his old friend hesitated in the final moment. The arrival of the [[Thousand Petals Coalition]] changed everything. Bastion approached Bernardo and begged that they put aside their differences. Reluctantly, his "brother by bond" agreed.
