### Description
Descended from three generations of dedicated Hungarian scientists, Dr. Gedeon Voros grew up believing humanity’s salvation lay in creating cutting-edge technology. His initial forays into climate change research were applauded by the community, but Voros struggled to find funding. It wasn’t until he published a quietly received paper about the theory of weather manipulation that Voros drew attention from a joint North American military project. They offered both significant funding and citizenship, which Voros accepted, becoming lead scientist at the [[Codex/Battlefields/Exposure|Black Ridge]] facility in Canada.
His renewed research led to several breakthroughs in [[Steadfast Refuge|Operation: Steadfast Refuge]], which was initially designed to control and manipulate local weather. American military forces were highly concerned about the effects climate change could have on warfare and national security, and pushed Voros to perform a full test of Shearwater-1 as soon as the project’s satellite was in orbit. Fearful of losing his research entirely, Voros conceded despite a lack of safety protocols.
The result was disastrous, with a deployment malfunction knocking Shearwater-1 off-course, where it collided with a U.S. communications satellite and started a cascade that resulted in [[Codex/Key Events/The Blackout|the Blackout]]. While Voros was not blamed publicly, guilt from the catastrophe caused by his work led him to defect from Black Ridge and eventually ally with [[Codex/Profiles/Loyiso "Oz" Okusanya|Oz]] and Project: Silver Spear, seeking to fix his failed work to create Shearwater-2 and repair the tremendous damage that had been done.
