### Description
As a child, Irish idolized his uncle. The pair formed a strong bond during the many camping trips in upstate New York where the boy learned important lessons about working hard and doing the right thing, but above all that life should be lived with “No fucking regrets!”
Irish joined the Marine Corps and proved himself a highly capable soldier across a series of international deployments. He was earmarked for a specialist unit called Tombstone Squad and overcame his long standing alcohol addiction to earn his place. The squad was one of the fiercest units in the U.S. military and was called upon for only the toughest missions. One of their last ops involved a Chinese coup and a nearly averted world war that left Irish embittered by the loss of his compatriots.
The trauma caused a full-blown relapse as Irish drank himself close to death, losing his wife and children in the process. It was only when he reconnected with Recker, an old buddy from Tombstone Squad, that he pulled himself back from the brink.
Once recovered, Irish re-joined the Corps at a time of great crisis - severe climate events disrupted entire countries and sparked mass migrations. The term [[No-Pats|Non-Patriated]] was given to the stateless refugees, and as their numbers grew exponentially, Irish lost faith in America as it turned its back on those most in need.
Around this time, he met Raphaella, a member of a South African based humanitarian effort led by a charismatic No-Pat leader named [[Codex/Profiles/Loyiso "Oz" Okusanya|Oz]]. Irish joined several of her expeditions and a relationship blossomed. When he learned they were expecting their first child, he put in his papers and was discharged from the marines.
While Raphaella was in hospital for a routine scan, [[Codex/Key Events/The Blackout|the Blackout]] struck. A commercial jet crashed into the hospital, killing hundreds, including Raphaella. Irish was devastated and found solace in a young boy, Omar, who was orphaned by the incident. He vowed to keep the boy safe and informally adopted him as his son. Now fully focused on the needs of the Non-Patriated, Irish contacted Oz and offered to help.
He was assigned command of the [[Codex/Profiles/Exodus|Exodus]], a refugee rescue vessel and deployment ship. Onboard, lived an elite task force that would undertake cover operations to further the No-Pat cause. But as Oz’s methods became more extreme, Irish could no longer blindly follow orders. The breaking point came when the No-Pat leader baited the U.S. and Russia into war. Irish knew then Oz needed to be stopped. He won’t rest until that happens.
