Antonov’s upbringing was far from perfect. A family full of turmoil both emotionally and physically made it his and his brother’s task to provide and supply. Their dad suffered from trauma caused by his past and their mother fell very ill after Antonov’s brother was born.
Both parents died in 2024, the details have been clouded. A couple of years passed and Antonov and his brother join the RICIU in 2026 to make their lives mean something again after the lonely life they both have been living together in Russia.
The two brothers kept each other going and didn’t let the other person give up. During their time serving in the RICIU they would go on joint operations together by default, the higher ups thought of their relationship as a strengthening factor. This was later proven at several instances due to the statistical rate of success.
Looking back at some of the missions they were assigned to, Antonov feels a big burden of shame. Since at the time they seemed fair and just, now in hindsight they were doing very bad things that ended up hurting a lot of innocent people. Most notably one mission in which they were tasked to retrieve “stolen medical supplies” from a facility in Spain. This was debunked at a later date and they were actually stealing medical supplies and equipment from a children's hospital. Antonov suffers from heavy trauma due to his past, keeping him up at night.
In 2035 on May 14th the brothers were assigned to a mission involving infiltration of an American-owned facility being set up in France that would aim to post cyberattacks throughout Russia in hopes of turning the land into a deadzone. Antonov’s brother was heavily injured during the infiltration, and decided to go out of his way and level the building with himself still inside. Antonov tried to talk his brother out of it but eventually got forced out of the facility and watched as everything unfolded. Leaving his brother buried under a tombstone of technology.
Following the incident Antonov would resign from his duty and go into isolation. No one heard from him for years following up to the blackout of 2040. The country would collapse into paranoia and crime skyrocketed, protests became an everyday act and food production completely plateaued.
Meanwhile during Antonov’s isolation he started experimenting with makeshift explosives developing highly volatile grenades. He was already preparing for his time to start fighting again. The drive Antonov got, to develop these prototypes, was fueled by the memories of his brother.
Antonov emerged from his hermit state and decided he needed to help. He had heard of the Non-Patriated, the No-Pats, fighting across the globe and had an interest in their agendas. He would later join Irish and the Exodus in helping out on operations that required precise tactics that only his skills could match.
Many successful operations and infiltrations later, Antonov would form a good bond with Irish
and started to see him as a trustworthy partner. Irish didn’t take this for granted since he knew Antonov had it hard fitting in with the other No-Pats.
This gave Antonov a sense of purpose again and he finally felt like he was fighting for something that would impact **the course of the future.**
