I didn’t believe it at first but Antonov was alive. The blazing silhouette emerging from the smokes and flames on the island shocked us to the core. We were expecting him to drop dead at any second but miraculously he continued to approach the beach. The crew stood in awe of the spectacle, almost losing focus on our mission; rescuing him. I ordered the deployment of three scout ships to sail towards the beach and meet up with the victim. Crewman Graufman gathered most of the crew and prepared the boats to set sail, bringing all of our extinguishing equipment on board. The extraction would be swift and efficient to avoid detection by Arkangel surveillance. The following is an automated transcript between Larsen and I during the extraction: **GRAUFMAN:** Deployment, ready! Three, Two, One. We are a go. **LASALLE:** Be safe. Remember, this is supposedly a super secret facility so keep an eye on that beachline. Especially those large masts and speaker heads around the cliffside. **GRAUFMAN:** Copy that, we’re two klicks from shore. Will update you when we’re closing in. **LASALLE:** Preem. Talk soon. \[Two minutes pass] **GRAUFMAN:** Captain, we have clear eyes on him, it is definitely Antonov! We’re drifting up the beach as we speak. **LASALLE:** Put out the flames A.S.A.P! **GRAUFMAN:** We’re on it. GRAB THE EXTINGUISHERS AND PUT HIM OUT! \[Water splashes and yells from the crew overwhelms as the sound of metallic cries occasionally pierce through] **GRAUFMAN:** Antonov? Antonov! We’re here, we’re with LaSalle. Drop on the ground so we can help you! **LASALLE:** Graufman, what’s going on? Is he still conscious? **GRAUFMAN:** Yes, yes he seems to be aware. Antonov, are you with me buddy? **ANTONOV:** HELP- SHE- STAY AWAY- MISTAKE- **GRAUFMAN:** Antonov, calm down. What is it you’re try- \[Silence for a moment] **LASALLE:** Graufman, come in. Is everything alright? **LASALLE:** Graufman, respond! **GRAUFMAN:** Graufman here, I read you. **LASALLE:** What the hell happened, what was that? Are you alright, is Antonov secure? **GRAUFMAN:** Antonov. Yes, Antonov is safe. We’re preparing to head back now. **LASALLE:** I… copy. See you back here soon, safe sails. Out. **GRAUFMAN:** See you soon. Out. Shortly thereafter I grabbed my binoculars and aimed that at the beach of the rescue. Antonov was rolled in a thick cloth and laid down in the boat, he seemed immobile. I got a clump in my stomach. ![[BeachCamera_Clear.png]]

II: THE HOMECOMING

About three minutes pass and Graufman and the crew return safely. Thankfully our approach went unnoticed and we were able to carry out our mission successfully. Two men carried Antonov out and put him in the main cabin. I exchanged a few words with Graufman and the others and they seemed satisfied with the outcome and we all shook hands for another successful outcome, they were hired muscle after all. It did catch me off guard when I shook their hands and they were freezing cold to the touch. I brushed it off as nothing at the time but I was admittedly worried about their health. I made my way to the cabin where Antonov was lying. He was completely still, drawing heavy breath. His eyes were closed and hands resting on his stomach. I pulled out a chair from under the desk in the corner and sat down next to his bedside. I was horrified by what was hiding underneath the cloth he was wrapped in, but my curiosity got the better of me, so I uncovered a piece around his arm. The smell of rotting flesh hit me like a truck. Clogged blood mixed with the glint of the metal rods attached to his bones had me pause for a moment of horror. I dared not to look further so I covered him up again and quickly stood up to exit the cabin. I stood by the railing outside looking down at the crashing waves as we were making our way out of the island perimeter when something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. An alternating flash of green and red could be seen from the cliffside of the island. Right thereafter the whole ridgeline lit up with flashes that quickly shut off again.I found this quite suspicious so I started investigating.

III: THE SIGNAL

ATTACHED AUDIO RECORDING PULLED FROM THE VENDETTA EXTERNAL RECEIVER: ![[The_Rescue_-_Signal.mp3]] I managed to snatch the frequency in time but unsure as to what it means or is trying to tell. I did hear a loud crash and scraping outside on deck right afterwards so I will be having a check on that. Our trajectory is now aimed towards the North Sea as we make our way towards the Baltic where we will regroup with our allies in Poland. CPT LaSalle of The Vendetta. END OF MISSION LOG
